Dr Mark Voloshin was born in Russia during a turbulent time and through pure passion and perseverance achieved his dream of becoming a dentist. Establishing the first ever mobile dentistry practice and then founding the international Marvol Group in Germany in the 1980s was just the beginning. With the Group Dr Voloshin has travelled the world and his unique business style has touched the lives of people from Russia to Australia. His projects include revitalising the vitally important copper mining sector in Russia to introducing Americans to the delights of South African wines.
The Marvol Group's business interests are now spread across the globe and are an extension of Dr Voloshin's philosophy. Each interest is a careful balance between profit and social and ecological awareness. His passion for wine and South Africa led to his purchase of the Hazendal Wine Estate in Cape Town in 1994 and this is now the full focus of Dr Voloshin and his family. The farm has not only been brought back to life after years of neglect, but is now also home to a fascinating museum and art gallery. Here South Africans learn about Russian culture and young artists are given a chance to exhibit their work. As a full funder of the University of Cape Town's Centre for Russian Studies, Dr Voloshin fully believes in the spreading and preservation of all cultures and it is thanks to him that the people of South Africa and Russia have the opportunity to meet.
